Kaffree Roma de Olla

Create a luxury cafe-de-olla-style of coffee blend without any of the acid, GMOs, or caffeine by using Kaffree Roma in this recipe by Ellen Evans. Using a cinnamon stick, molasses, and aniseeds, this beverage combines the best of bitter and sweet flavors in a warm mixture that is perfect for early mornings or to pair with a dessert.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup Kaffree Roma
  • 1/2 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1 tsp molasses
  • 1 cinnamon stick
  • 3 aniseeds
  • 1-quart water

Directions

  1. Combine 1 quart of water, sugar, cinnamon, and aniseed.
  2. Bring slowly to a boil, stirring in order to melt the sugar.
  3. Stir in the Kaffree Roma, remove from the fire, cover, and steep for 5 minutes. Serve when cooled enough to drink.
