Ingredients

  • 1 tablespoon Kaffree Roma (caffeine-free coffee substitute)
  • 1 cup hot water
  • 1/4 teaspoon mint extract or a handful of fresh mint leaves
  • 1 tablespoon cocoa powder
  • 1 tablespoon sweetener (such as agave syrup, honey, or sugar), optional
  • 1/2 cup coconut milk (or any non-dairy milk of your choice)
  • Ice cubes
  • Whipped coconut cream, for topping (optional)
  • Chocolate shavings, for garnish (optional)
  • Fresh mint leaves, for garnish (optional)

Directions

  1. In a heatproof mug or cup, add the Kaffree Roma and mint extract (or mint leaves if using fresh). Pour hot water over it and let it steep for 5 minutes to develop the flavor. If using fresh mint leaves, you can muddle them slightly with a spoon to release more flavor.
  2. While the Kaffree Roma is steeping, prepare the chocolate mixture. In a small bowl, combine the cocoa powder and sweetener of your choice. Mix well to ensure there are no lumps.
  3. Once the Kaffree Roma has steeped, strain the liquid to remove the coffee substitute grounds and any mint leaves if using fresh. If you used mint leaves, press them against the strainer to extract as much flavor as possible.
  4. Add the strained Kaffree Roma to a blender or a shaker bottle. Add the chocolate mixture and coconut milk.
  5. If desired, add additional sweetener to taste. Blend or shake well until all the ingredients are combined.
  6. Fill a glass with ice cubes. Pour the prepared Coconut Mint Mocha over the ice.
  7. If desired, top the iced mocha with whipped coconut cream for added creaminess. Sprinkle chocolate shavings on top for garnish, and add a fresh mint leaf for an extra touch of freshness.
